Diamond Drilling wins in Tyrolit's Cutting Pro
Tyrolit organises the Cutting Pro Competition, where professionals from the concrete cutting and drilling industry compete in three cutting exercises; wall sawing, core drilling and hand sawing.
Two contestants at a time perform on stage, with each person required to complete all of the exercises.
Twelve contestants from around the UK were judged on the time they took to complete each of the three disciplines.
MARK DANIELS of 24/7 Diamond Drilling, Newton Abbot, won the UK heat of the competition.
With the fastest total time, Mark Daniels was only two points ahead of Chris Byrne of Hitchin-based J Hare Diamond Drilling.
Nick Dewsbury of East Midlands Diamond Drilling, Nottingham, came third.
The winner and runner-up were consistent throughout, coming first and fourth in different disciplines.
Mark Daniels was second in core drilling while Chris Byrne came third in wall sawing, which proved to be the difference between two outstanding performances.
Both go forward to the grand final next January at Tyrolit's headquarters in Austria, where more than 2,000 attended the first event in 2009.
