Commenting on the award UGS managing director Paul Beaman said: "We were up against strong competition so were surprised and delighted to win this award".
"Training has become such a big part of our everyday working life at UGS we tend to lose sight of just how much we've achieved compared with some other businesses".
UGS was heralded a 'shining example' of how investment in people pays dividends.
It won the award after showing that a strong team-working ethos and philosophy of employee engagement through training is the backbone of the company's rapid rise from a single branch in 1995 to opening its fourteenth outlet in Newcastle on Tyne this year.
"We believe it is critical for all employees to have an understanding of the business and its objectives and how they relate to their own personal objectives," explains Paul Beaman, "we work to support and develop the career of all our people.".
