10 years growth celebrated at UGS
UGS has become the fastest growing independent UK builders merchant
Steve Righton is taking a well-earned tea break after clocking up ten years at builders' merchant UGS.
Steve, aged 41, is the first of his colleagues to achieve ten years' service since the company was set up by Andy Bygate in 1995.
"I joined UGS after a sports injury stopped me working directly in construction," explains Steve, "there were only a few of us back then and I was supposed to just work one week but here I am ten years on".
UGS has since gone on to become the fastest growing independent UK builders' merchant, with 207 employees and 14 outlets.
Steve worked in the sales office and drove vehicles when he first joined the company and for the last six years has managed the pressure pipelines division based at the Shipston on Stour depot in Warwickshire.
Bosses threw an impromptu party to mark the occasion and presented him with an original Philip Stuttard painting as a memento.
