Transformerless Benefits Up To 2MVA And Higher

An Uninterruptible Power Supplies product story

Uninterruptible Power Supplies introduces second-generation transformerless technology which finally signals the end of transformer-based UPS technology.

Uninterruptible Power Supplies introduces an addition to its PowerWAVE UPS range incorporating second-generation transformerless technology which finally signals the end of transformer-based UPS technology as a competitive force.

MaxiPOWER extends the maximum power output of the transformerless PowerWAVE range from 120 to 250kVA per module, by far the highest on the market with all the well-recognised advantages of transformerless technology.

As a result of this new development, MaxiPOWER delivers high-availability protection with footprint, lifetime cost and scaleability benefits which transformer-based technology cannot match.

The MaxiPOWER range offers output powers of 160, 200 and 250kVA.

As standard, up to ten MaxiPOWERs can be connected to provide up to 2.5MVA output in capacity mode, or up to 2.25MVA in n+1 redundancy mode for the most critical applications, in data centres, server farms, networking, telecommunications and medical applications.

Even higher output voltages can be implemented if required.

The major benefits of PowerWAVE transformerless technology in MaxiPOWER include 97 percent efficiency, the highest efficiency of any UPS in true on-line operation, reducing energy costs by up to 60 percent in comparison with transformer-based systems.

With near unity (0.98) power factor and less than seven percent input current total harmonic distortion, MaxiPOWER also reduces ancillary installation costs by, for example, removing the need for gen-set oversizing.

Installation and transportation costs are reduced by MaxiPOWER?s small footprint and low weight.

A UPS footprint of 0.9m2 is significantly lower than competing systems, while the elimination of 12-pulse rectifier cabinets provides even greater reductions in overall floorspace requirements.

The addition of extra MaxiPOWER units, either to meet growing capacity requirements or to implement redundancy, is simply achieved without exposing the protected load.

Cost-efficient upgrading is ensured by MaxiPOWER?s unique paralleling architecture.

For example, if the protected load is 300kVA, introducing redundancy in a conventional protection system requires a further 300kVA UPS with all its ancillary equipment.

Using MaxiPOWER, 300kVA capacity can be implemented with two 160kVA units, while redundancy can be added using a further 160kVA module with minimum cost and footprint increments and with no single point of failure.

Uninterruptible Power Supplies supports electrical consultants, contractors and systems integrators with a comprehensive information pack on the new MaxiPOWER, as well as seminars and client presentations.

The company also offers full system design, installation, commissioning and lifetime maintenance support.

With the introduction of MaxiPOWER, Uninterruptible Power Supplies can satisfy user requirements from 1kVA to 2.5MVA and more with PowerWAVE, the most advanced UPS technology on the market.
