Unite Modular Solutions gains accreditation
Unite Modular Solutions has become the fifth organisation to receive the Buildoffsite Registration Scheme accreditation operated by Lloyd's Register EMEA.
The scheme is a process-based assessment procedure designed to ensure that accredited organisations meet the benchmarked standards expected by clients who procure from the offsite industry.
The scheme covers the design, manufacture, construction and project management activities and focuses on the process of delivery as well as the delivered product.
SQA Manager for Unite Modular Solutions (UMS), Ron Brown, was presented with the certificate by Buildoffsite Chairman Richard Ogden recently as the company opened the doors to its state-of-the-art factory in Gloucestershire for nearly 100 professionals from across the UK construction industry.
The Discovery Tour event provided guests with the unique opportunity of getting a first-hand look at UMS' impressive manufacturing facility, which has a production capacity of approximately 10,000 fully fitted lightweight steel frame volumetric modular units a year.
These units are then used to form permanent, multi-storey buildings for residential and student accommodation, hotels, leisure, public sector and key worker accommodation.
The Buildoffsite Registration Scheme accreditation increases organisational effectiveness and means risks are more effectively evaluated and understood, which will assist in avoiding costly mistakes.
As well as presentations from Mr Ogden, Rameen Firoozan of Berkeley Homes, David Barber from One Creative and Keir Leisure's Barry Hawkins, the Discovery Tour guests were given guided tours of UMS' impressive 16-acre, 185,000ft2 manufacturing facility, which is one of the most sophisticated in Europe and where, typically, a fully-fitted module comes off the end of the manufacturing line every 55 minutes.
Unite Modular Solutions (UMS) designs, manufactures and constructs off-site manufactured, fully fitted lightweight steel frame volumetric modular units to form permanent, multi-storey buildings for residential and student accommodation, hotels, leisure, public sector and key worker accommodation.
