Uponor's new range of tapping tees for Puriton barrier pipe system means the company offers a complete system of pipes and fittings for the conveyance of potable water through contaminated land sites.

The tapping tees are available to connect to Puriton pipe in 63, 90 and 110mm diameters, and all have a dedicated 25mm Puriton take-off connection They have been third party tested and certified by the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS), and are currently being used in contaminated land sites across the UK

Uponor's Puriton product manager, Mark Hunter, commented: "With this dedicated Puriton tapping tee we have effectively completed the Puriton system, and believe that we are one of the first manufacturers to be able to offer such a complete and dedicated system for the conveyance of potable water through contaminated land sites.

Customer demand has already been exceptional, as the Government continues to encourage the reclamation of brownfield sites for housebuilding, in order to help reach the target of 300,000 new homes over the next 30 years." One of the major benefits of the Puriton system is the position of the aluminium barrier layer, which is located centrally within the polyethylene pipe wall.

Furthermore, the barrier layer is longitudinally welded throughout, ensuring a very high level of system protection.

In addition there is no requirement to remove the protective layer prior to making a joint to the system, and therefore no requirement for post-installation wrapping of joints, giving customers and installers a very high degree of confidence in the system.

Severn Trent Water recently approved the use of Puriton on all of its contaminated land sites.
