New Tapping Tee For Large Diameter Installations

A Radius Systems product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Mar 16, 2004

Uponor has developed a new Unifit tapping tee for large diameter water installations, from 450mm to 630mm.

The first one available is with a 32mm outlet, in 450-630 x 32mm, and a 63mm outlet version will be available within a few months.

The in-house design team at Uponor has produced a tapping tee with a specialist cutting system that still manages to produce a swarfeless cut.

It fits a Uponor fitting, and means that Uponor's specialist U+ installation team can now install, test and cut mains for all thicknesses up to SDR 11.

Users will in due course have the option of either buying the tooling and training from Uponor 's UTrain facility and installing their own tapping tees, or of utilising Uponor's full U+ installation service.

Significantly, this is the first fitting to allow service connections on thick wall PE service pipe without requiring a branch saddle with valve.

As with other Uponor tapping tees it is designed for live connections, and is 16 bar rated.

Uponor customer support engineer Ken Wilson commented that the new tee would be particularly useful to water companies with large rural areas.

A good example is cattle troughs, which can now be connected straight into live mains, and he said that several had already been sold.
