National Grid Transco appreciate the benefits of the new Uponor MegaTEE and the time savings this nuts-and-bolts-free fitting is providing.

National Grid Transco (NGT) network officer Robin Baycroft has been one of the first to appreciate the benefits of the new Uponor MegaTEE and the time savings this nuts-and-bolts-free fitting is providing At a site at Holme Lane, Rawtenstall, an 18-inch medium pressure gas diversion was required, and the new 630mm x 500mm MegaTEE brought big advantages to the NGT team

As Robin Baycroft confirmed: "Its main advantage is that it helps us keep an all-plastic system, instead of the steel specials we used to have to make, with their flanges, nuts and bolts, etc.

This system by contrast is a completely welded tee.

It speeds things up considerably for us because there's less bolting needed, and we also don' t have to put cathodic protection in to stop the metal corroding." The NGT team was so delighted with the new Uponor tee that they almost immediately planned another application for it, also in Rawtenstall.
