Vagg installs cost saving Taraflex vinyl flooring

Vagg Flooring has installed of Gerflor's innovative vinyl flooring Taraflex Dry-Tex System, at a new sports development at St. Andrew's School in Leatherhead, Surrey.

The unique qualities of this ground-breaking flooring allow it to be installed as soon as the sub-floor is visibly dry, as opposed to waiting up to nine months.

This translates into real cost and time savings for architects, specifiers and construction companies.

"This represents a major step forward for both the flooring and the construction industries.

The key to professional long-lasting installation of vinyl flooring is correct sub-floor preparation and until now there's been no shortcut to this lengthy - and therefore costly - procedure," said Stuart Varndall, MD of Worthing-based contractor Vagg Flooring.

"It normally takes between six and nine months for a sub-floor to dry out to the required level of relative humidity.

When using standard products this must not be above 75per cent or, for certain specialist products, up to 92per cent.

Time is money of course, and this cost needs to be built into the budget and timescale for the project.

"But because the Taraflex Dry-Tex System can be laid on floors irrespective of relative humidity levels, the project can be brought to a close much sooner at a lower cost".

The unique quality of Dry-Tex is a non-woven material applied to the back of the dual density foam of the Taraflex sports range.

When used together with Gerflor's 'Gerpur' adhesive, it can be installed directly onto a sub-floor without the need for a surface damp proof membrane.

This is what makes it perfect for sub-floors with high moisture content.

Vagg Flooring was contracted to install the Dry-Tex system at the newly built four-bay Sports Hall, part of a major rebuilding project at St Andrew's School, Leatherhead, where the Principal Contractor was Sunninghill Construction Co Limited, Haywards Heath.

Varndall added: "We are very proud to have been involved in an industry first and expect to be rolling out the Dry-Tex system in many more locations across the UK in the future".
