SIPS success at Housebuilding Show
Vencel Resil, one of UK's leading manufacturers of expanded polystyrene, had a tremendous response at the Housebuilding Show at the Building Design Centre in London.
The company had a striking stand made from structural insulated panels, which attracted a great deal of interest from both medium and large scale housebuilders.
Vencel Resil's sales staff explained how structural insulated panels offer an effective way for housebuilders to meet both the Building Regulations and the requirements of Modern Methods of Construction.
Neil Conway, General Sales Manager for Vencel Resil, explains: "The show was a huge success for us as it gave us the opportunity to demonstrate the benefits of both our structural insulated panels and our expanded polystyrene insulation for walls, roofs and floors".
"We received several enquiries from major housebuilders who were interested in how these products could help them meet the increasingly stringent Building Regulations and we are very optimistic about the future for these innovative products".
The company demonstrated how its innovative Jabroof Slimfix structural insulated panels are being used by many forward-thinking developers as they allow for a much quicker and safer construction of a roof.
Typically a roof can be constructed in just one day using Jabroof Slimfix, saving several day's labour as well as minimising waste on site.
Since Building Regulations Part L was updated, Jabroof Slimfix offers a simpler way to meet the thermal requirements and can improve the U-value of a pitched roof to between 0.37 and 0.16 W/mK.
In addition, because Jabroof Slimfix panels are structural it enables housebuilders to create additional usable living space in the loft by providing a warm roof construction.
Vencel Resil's 'Jabsip' structural insulated panels also generated lots of interest as the company demonstrated how they can be quickly and easily assembled on site.
Jabsip panels are manufactured from I00E expanded polystyrene (complying with BS EN 13163) sandwiched between two 12mm Oriented Strand Boards (complying with BS EN 300).
The OSB originates from sustainable sources (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) and the expanded polystyrene is fully recyclable, which helps housing providers meet their sustainability requirements.
What particularly impressed visitors to the show was that Jabsip and Jabroof Slimfix help prevent cold bridging as there are no studs or braces to cause breaks in the insulation, which creates a more comfortable living environment.
They also create a better air tight seal to a dwelling, which reduces drafts, improves thermal efficiency and helps prevent noise transmission.
Vencel Resil also demonstrated how its flooring insulation product 'Jablo' offers up to 20 per cent improvement in thermal performance for walls and floors and is supplied in board sizes and thicknesses that are compliant with existing build methods.
Recognisable by its distinctive grey and orange fleck, Jablo is easily identifiable on site.
Expanded polystyrene is an excellent insulating medium that remains effective for the lifetime of a building and is extremely easy to work with on site.
