With so many types of insulation on the market, it is important to find a material that has been recognised for its sustainability benefits.

Jablite is one of the best known brands of expanded polystyrene insulation currently available.

Expanded polystyrene (EPS) is widely recognised for achieving an 'A' rating in the Building Research Establishment's 'Green Guide to Specification'.

The guide provides valuable information for specifiers, designers and developers on the relative environmental impacts of over 250 roof, wall and floor products.

EPS was found to have a Global Warming Potential (GWP) and Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) of zero.

Jablite EPS is also free from HCFCs, is completely inert and 100% recyclable.

The many benefits of Jablite as a high performance insulation means that architects, builders and contractors are increasingly turning towards the material to help them meet their sustainability requirements.

Innovation in the material led to the development of two market-leading products: Jablite and, more recently, Jablite Premium.

Jablite is a tried and tested material that has been popular for many years in the development of energy efficient buildings and provides excellent thermal values that consistently exceed building regulations requirements.

Jablite Premium is a low lambda material that was developed to help contractors to meet the ever tightening building regulations without having to change their existing site build practices, as it achieves a 20 per cent improvement in thermal performance.

It is easily recognisable by its grey board with orange speckles and is perfect for contractors and developers looking to create energy efficient buildings that meet not only todays' but also future requirements.

Another key advantage of EPS is that its insulation characteristics remain constant for the lifetime of the building.

This is because the cellular structure of EPS contains stabilised air, which provides its insulative properties and does not leach from the material.

The performance of Jablite insulation will therefore not decrease over time.

By 2016, the Government aim is to make all new housing zero carbon, which means a home that has zero net emissions of carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas.

Jablite has been used as an insulation material in both domestic and commercial buildings for decades and is still one of the most effective insulation materials to use in the creation of zero carbon buildings.

Through innovation in the material and the product range, Jablite is helping to improve the environmental credentials of buildings which results in a much reduced carbon footprint, for the benefit of all.
