Piper and VEKA double glazed 'A' rated window
Piper Windows has development double glazed A rated window, with the emphasis on affordability and practicality.
Piper Windows blazed the Window Energy Ratings trail almost two years ago by being the first window manufacturer in the UK to produce an A Rated window under the then newly introduced scheme, a triple glazed unit that was developed in cooperation with the company's system supplier VEKA.
Now, Piper has taken another step forward with the development of a double glazed A rated window, with the emphasis on affordability and practicality.
Piper set out to produce an A Rated window that relied upon standard components - the VEKA Matrix 70 fully reinforced casement - and production techniques which offered an affordable solution that could be readily produced in volume.
Piper, again working with VEKA, achieved this by applying the latest technologies in an innovative and novel way to maximise the thermal efficiency without compromising product quality.
Despite being inspired by the demands of social landlords Piper is finding that private homeowners have become the main customers of the Piper A Rated Window, apparently being more familiar with the Window Energy Rating scheme, or at the very least making the obvious connection with other energy labelling schemes such as for white goods.
The combination of high performance and excellent value for money are proving irresistible.
Derek Pullman, as Quality and Technical Manager for Piper Windows, has been closely involved with the development of Piper's double glazed A Rated window: "Our goal was to produce an A Rated window and make it a commercial reality," he explained.
"It has long been possible to make a window with this performance, but most of those produced are too expensive and impractical to manufacture in volume".
"Therefore they have no commercial value".
"What we have achieved, working closely with VEKA, is something that is already a commercial reality and earning us sales; A Rated windows will soon become the norm.".
