Vicaima fire doors have been installed throughout the historic Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin.

One of Ireland's largest and most famous hotels has recently undergone an extensive eighteen month renovation and refurbishment programme.

More than 500 Vicaima FD30 and FD60 fire doors were supplied and have been installed throughout the building, which has been the focus of a great deal of attention and critical acclaim since it re-opened.

The refurbished hotel, which was designed by HKR Architects, now comprises 265 guest rooms over eight floors with two bars, a restaurant and 12 banqueting and meeting suites to accommodate between 10 and 350 guests.

HKR Architects specified Vicaima fire doors because of their unbeaten safety record.

Vicaima is the only European door manufacturer to be recognised by both the TRADA Q-Mark and BWF Certifire schemes as well as achieving ISO9001:2000.

Its doors are independently audited at regular intervals to verify fire safety.

A single leaf Vicaima FD30 fire door, which will resist a fire for a minimum of 30 minutes, was recently tested under the BWF Certifire audit system and achieved 46 minutes - an overrun of more than 50%.

Vicaima fire doors were supplied to the Shelbourne Hotel by Embankment Joinery which is celebrating its 40th year in business.

"We find these doors very easy to service and our customers find them easy to install" says Philip Armstrong, Managing Director of Embankment Joinery.

The supply of fire doors to the Shelbourne Hotel represents one of the largest orders for Vicaima Ireland since it opened its Dublin depot in Finglas 12 months ago.

"Vicaima performance doors are popular with designers because they do not sacrifice design to functionality" says Declan Lynch, National Sales Manager of Vicaima Ireland.

"We are delighted to be associated with such a fine building".
