Vicaima doors perfect for 'Grand Designs' project

A Vicaima product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Sep 24, 2007

Vicaima's Exclusive Oak doors provided an ideal solution for the designer of a major redevelopment recently featured on Channel 4's "Grand Designs".

At St Martin's Church, an 18th century Grade II listed building in Tipton, near Dudley in the West Midlands, Dean Marks was intent on preserving the character of the original building.

Wherever possible, he used period reclaimed or recycled materials.

However, having incorporated oak skirting boards and architraves, he was unable to find sufficient original period doors to create the cohesive look he sought to achieve and so he turned to Vicaima.

"I carried out some fairly extensive research to find the right doors and Vicaima's Exclusive Oak doors simply outshone everything else" says Marks.

"Their style and elegance provide the perfect foil to the original period materials I have used throughout the building".

"In a complex redevelopment like this, it was also very good to have a supplier I could rely on".

"Vicaima's service was second to none, with everything delivered bang on time".

Dean Marks used Vicaima high performance Exclusive Oak fire doors with glazing and beading throughout the conversion project which generated a great deal of interest when it was recently shown on Channel 4's "Grand Designs".

The building now comprises six bedrooms, an indoor swimming pool, gym and sauna as well as a library housed in a tower overlooking Tipton".

"This project was perfect for Vicaima" says Pedro Silva, Group Commercial Director".

"We aim to transform doors into works of art which help create internal harmony".

"This project at St Martin's Church demonstrates a perfect fulfillment of our aims".

The Exclusive range of doors is one of three door ranges produced by Vicaima which also include Classic panelled doors and Essential flush doors, all available in a range of finishes, designs and glazing options.
