Vicaima reduces carbon emissions by 290
tonnes
Leading door manufacturer Vicaima invest 700,000 euros in environmental policy which aims to reduce carbon emissions by 290 tonnes in 2008.
The policy's main aims are to achieve greater energy efficiency throughout all areas of production and so help preserve the environment Measures being taken include purchasing the most efficient machinery for waste extraction to achieve higher output; replacing diesel stacking trucks with electric trucks; implementing an integrated energy management system; using advanced temperature control systems in the production process and adopting systems to achieve better climatic control throughout all buildings

Vicaima already holds ISO 14001 for its environmental performance.
It has built its own residual water treatment station which reduces pollution by 90% and has invested in an ecological UV line which significantly reduces the use of solvents in the production process.
In addition to this, the company has implemented advanced dust extraction systems as well as residue collection systems which allow the company to recycle and re-use internally 80% of such waste materials.
Noise pollution is also being tackled.
In total, Vicaima's investment in securing a better future for the environment comes to 3 million euros.
