VPhase unit is installed in eco-friendly house

A VPhase product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Sep 1, 2010

VPhase is a device which reduces household electricity costs by approximately 10 per cent and has been featured on BBC's DIY: SOS The Big Build.

The programme saw the team transform an ex-council house in South Wales into an eco-friendly family home by installing energy efficient technologies such as rainwater harvesting, solar panels and VPhase voltage optimisation.

The low-cost VPhase unit uses voltage optimisation technology to reduce and regulate the incoming voltage to homes, maintaining it at a stable level, typically 220V in the UK.

Independently verified trial results have demonstrated savings on electricity bills of around 10 per cent.

The carbon savings have been calculated to be at least 4 tonnes over the 25+ year life of the product - the equivalent of driving roughly 22,000km in an average size family car.

The unit should cost GBP250 installed when fitted at the same time as a consumer unit, and can be quickly and easily fitted by a qualified electrician.

The VPhase has a five year warranty and with payback periods typically less than this, represents a risk free green investment.
