Zero metal price increase on FAAY drylining

A Triarch UK product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Aug 7, 2008

With the continuing increase in metal prices, the FAAY drylining system is the ideal alternative system for internal wall partitions.

Annual price increases of metal continue to have a large impact on the construction industry, in particular driving up the cost of metal stud partitioning.

With rising costs of raw materials together with oil prices, cold rolled products like metal stud has increased to 100 euros per tonne as of April 2008, with a further 10% price increase expected before the end of the year.

Knauf, Lafarge and British Gypsum have already introduced price rises of 15% on metal products with other suppliers set to follow, introducing increases of between 22% and 25%.

These increases have meant that contractors have been unable to absorb the price increase and therefore pushing up overall contract costs.

Also contributing to the rising costs is the increasing demand for metal stud systems, which has also fuelled concerns over availability and potential shortages of materials, making further price increases inevitable.

As a result, architects and key specifiers are sourcing alternative solutions to offer their clients better value for money without compromising performance levels.

As a manufacturer of partition systems, FAAY understands the need for new innovative products that meet the demands required by the customer as well as tackling increasing metal costs and the environmental impact construction materials are having.

With the continuing increase in metal prices, the FAAY system is the ideal alternative system for internal wall partitions as it uses Flaxboard and Flue Gas Gypsum plasterboard to form 600mm wide x up to 3.6m panels that slot together using timber from approved FSC sites in a quick, clean and efficient process without the use of any metal components.

With an abundant resource of Flax waste for the production of the Flaxboard and the use of recycled gypsum plasterboard, means that FAAY can continue to keep supply costs down.
