Watts Industries has launched a new frost-resistant water tap for gardens.

Watts Industries has launched a new frost-resistant water tap for gardens which is set to benefit homes and properties across the UK this year With spring well and truly in the air, homeowners are putting on their wellies and taking advantage of the warmer weather to carry out essential outdoor gardening jobs, and repairing the damage created by frozen or burst outdoor taps may well be at the top of the list

However, it need no longer be a worry thanks to the through-the-wall hydrant from Watts, which prevents water freezing in the main body of a tap's valve and avoids the problems that are created when this occurs.

The key to the through-the-wall hydrant is an extended valve which stretches back into the wall allowing the water shut-off point to be positioned inside the home where it is less likely to freeze.

In addition, when the flow of external water is no longer required, excess chamber water automatically self-drains outside the property so the valve and tap are completely free of water.

Existing forms of frost-prevention include insulating pipes with rubber or fibreglass, draining the system, or fitting a foam box onto the tap - none of which are guaranteed to provide complete freeze protection.

As the UK's leading manufacturer of products and services for the UK plumbing, heating and ventilation market place, Watts Industries has the solution.

Watts is even supplying its through-the-wall hydrant with a flexible braided hose to allow easy connection with a property's plumbing system which runs at a 90 angle to the hydrant's extended valve.

The hydrant also comes complete with a double check valve which acts as a back flow protection device and prevents any back flow from the tap being drawn back into the property.
