Watts Flowbox maximises solar energy
Europe's homeowners are maximising efficiency of solar panels thanks to Flowbox from Watts Industries which manages input of renewable energy into property's heating and hot water system.
Homeowners across Europe are maximising the efficiency of their solar panels thanks to the Flowbox from Watts Industries which manages the input of renewable energy into a property's heating and hot water system.
The Flowbox is a ready-to-mount dedicated solar control unit that measures both the energy captured by solar panels on a roof and the temperature of the heating system and determines the most effective time to transfer energy and the correct amount required.
It works by circulating the water or heating medium collected from the solar panels to a plate heat exchanger or indirect hot water cylinder to transfer the energy to the secondary domestic hot water or heating circuit.
Unlike other models, the compact Flowbox incorporates a number of intelligent features including integral sensors to ensure a steady temperature, a balancing valve to set the correct flow of water to optimise efficiency and isolating valves with built in gravity flow stops to prevent pipe in pipe circulation.
With 14 programme settings to suit different systems, the Flowbox can manage the transfer of heat to provide radiant, underfloor or convective heating and hot water.
Now growing, the use of solar thermal in the UK remains low compared to the rest of Europe.
Germany is the largest consumer utilising 47% of the European solar market, followed by Greece with 14%[1].
Watts Industries in Germany was responsible for the supply of over 70,000 solar products in 2005, with exports going to Italy, Spain and the Nordic countries.
