Triple linked set of Wacker plates
Linked set of Wacker plates cuts time and labour for block paving specialist.
A triple, linked set of Wacker 600 mm wide reversible compaction plates is helping an Essex based block paving contractor lay in excess of 1000 sq m per day on sites across the UK Tolly Paving of Colchester, run by father and son duo Terry and Mark Pointer, currently directly employs a team of 22 plus up to 15 additional part timers to cope with peak work loads

Gartec Install Disabled Platform Lifts
Gartec has installed twelve platform lifts at 'Laurel Court' a new residential housing project for the elderly in Liverpool using buildings formerly owned by the city's John Moores University.
The company specialises in the machine laying of block paving using a combination of a Probst Robotech installer and Wacker compaction plates, of which Tolly has a fleet of 15.
When faced with the task of laying nearly 200,000 sq m at Felixstowe Docks last year, it was realised that a method of speeding up the compaction process would be essential in order to complete the job on time.
Mark Pointer therefore contacted Wacker GB to enquire if it was possible to join three plates together to enable just one operator to tackle large areas.
The first unit, developed by Wacker in conjunction with Tolly, proved so successful that a second set has recently been delivered, now utilising the latest DPU 2560H-TS plates which feature a higher travel speed of 23 m/min and an ability to provide up to 20% increased productivity.
Mr.Pointer comments: "These triple sets make the absolute perfect tool for our application as they now give us the capability to lay and finish 1000 sq m of paving per day with ease".
Wacker's DPU 2560H-TS model is powered by a reliable Hatz 1B20 air-cooled diesel engine developing 3.4 kW (4.6 hp) and features integrated wheels and highly durable construction.
When linked up as a set of three, the whole unit is extremely easy for one person to control, requiring only the lightest of touches to change direction or turn around.
In addition, it is still an easy task for two people to tilt the complete unit onto its wheels for general on-site movement.
The development of this triple set is a typical example of Wacker's ability to work closely with its customers to develop solutions to suit individual customer requirements.
