Mixing business with leisure
Spelthorne Leisure Centre given healthy new look thanks to combined expertise of Washroom Washroom and its Specialist Joinery Division.
The appointment to complete refurbishment works at the busy Spelthorne Leisure Centre in Middlesex resulted in Washroom Washroom being awarded one of its most comprehensive contracts to date.
Whilst the Washroom team undertook the design, manufacture and installation of the centre's new changing rooms that included cubicles, vanity units, lockers and benches, the Specialist Joinery Division completed the leisure centre's new look with the creation of a bespoke reception desk as well as a new servery to the first floor cafe area.
A key design feature of the new refurbished leisure centre is the creation of an contemporary user friendly 'changing village' that comprises 34 cubicles in contrasting mid-blue and white finishes with coordinated lockers and vanity units.
The choice of durable Tempo lockers, which are ideally suited for use in heavy traffic areas such as public changing rooms, helped to successfully meet the centre's dual requirements of aesthetics and practicality.
To further ensure that the stylish new design was robust enough to meet the rigorous requirements of a busy community leisure centre, Washroom Washroom also suggested the use of durable Mezzo Aqua toughened glass shower cubicles with satin anodised aerofoil profile headrails and elliptical aluminium pilasters.
In contrast, the private changing areas feature high specification Octave lockers and cubicles that are finished in an striking wood veneer to create a safe and comfortable environment for the many different users of the centre's facilities.
Outside of the changing rooms, Washroom Washroom's Specialist Joinery Division provided the leisure centre with a new and improved reception desk finished in attractive and durable grey laminate in addition to the design of new desks and mirrors in the gym rooms.
The improvements to Spelthorne Leisure Centre have been completed as part of an ambitious GBP2.7 million investment programme that has been launched following the appointment of specialist company Sports and Leisure Management to maintain and run the centre on behalf of Spelthorne Borough Council.
