A skilled team of mechanical and electrical engineers, together with support staff is steadily being built at Walsall.
Longstanding and new clients are now experiencing a much quicker response time in the Midlands.
A prime example of this is Sandwell General Hospital:- Following a telephone call from the hospital's estates department manager, at mid-morning on a February Saturday, requesting immediate hire of a hot water/heating unit , the team from Watkins Hire sprung in to action.
The hospital's pipe work had sprung leaks in the heating system where the district headquarters was housed.
The temperature outside was just 1 degree centigrade making the situation extremely critical .
A call to head office, quickly confirmed the availability of a suitable heating unit, fuel tank and flexible hose.
Transportation, incorporating a Hiab for offloading, was being sourced and priced.
A proposal was put together and Sandwell General Hospital was offered with a next day delivery Upon acceptance of the commercial and technical proposal , all systems were put in to motion for almost a ' dawn delivery' on the Sunday, of all the plant and ancillaries to the hospital.
All the services and flexible pipework were installed and by 'early doors' Monday, the unit was commissioned by a Watkins Hire engineer.
Kevin Reynolds as the hospital's estates manager was 'delighted at Watkins Hire 's response and expertise, especially over a weekend'.
The above scenario depicts the overall operations of Watkins Hire at all times in all parts of the UK.
