Wallingford Software In Tune With The US Market
Wallingford Software has reported its most successful trade show ever at WEFTEC 2003, the annual water quality exhibition and conference hosted by the Water Environment Federation (WEF), in the USA.
The leading collection and treatment event in the US, WEFTEC provides attendees with the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of technical sessions and workshops on the most current water quality topics.
This year operational and management issues dominated the agenda with security never far from the surface.
Regular exhibitors at WEFTEC for many years, Wallingford Software's booth staff cannot remember a year with greater interest in hydraulic modeling and Wallingford Software in particular.
Andrew Walker, Wallingford Software's collection system specialist, believes that Wallingford Software is now a familiar name across the water industry in North America: "Everybody at the show was aware who we are and what we do.
We could barely handle all the traffic at the booth.
Often we had more than a dozen people in several groups.
"As we'd expect at WEFTEC, the majority of contacts were interested in InfoWorks CS but there was a lot of interest in InfoWorks WS and InfoWorks RS as well.
With one customer we discussed the optimization of their system using a real-time InfoWorks WS model featuring over 1000 SCADA connections.
Other customers wanted crash courses in the latest functionality in InfoWorks v5.
"On water supply, the most discussed topics were all-pipe modeling and our ability to manage and run models with 100,000 pipes, real time modeling/operational models and GIS integration.
We got numerous excellent leads.
"On collection systems, the most common topics of discussion were model size, model stability, the management of model data and links with ArcView and (more importantly) ArcGIS.
These are all areas in which Wallingford Software leads the industry.
"There's no doubt in my mind that WEFTEC 03 was the best ever show for Wallingford Software and that things are really moving our way in the US now.
The structure, robustness and functionality of our products are clearly answering a need in a US market that for too long has suffered from lack of market choice and competition.
I'm looking forward to WEFTEC 2004 already!".
