Ward Insulated Panels has teamed up with Grainger Building Services to complete yet another successful Tesco project using Topdek pre-insulated single ply roofdeck on a new supermarket in Dingwall, Scotland.

Ward Topdek is a pre-engineered, one piece roof panel manufactured at Ward's Sherburn site in North Yorkshire, comprising a trapezoidal steel deck, PIR insulation core and an integral PVC outer membrane.

The PIR insulation core provides a fire rated core approved to LPBC standards.

The overall project took only 24 weeks to complete, due in part to a new self coring roof panel fixing screw, unique to Topdek which resulted in considerably faster roof installation time, saving valuable labour costs compared to traditional fixing methods.

The recently developed self drilling and self tapping fastener, eliminates the necessity for the traditional three stage coring and drilling process and features a torque internal drive and spiral cutting washer which flattens out once installed.

Project architects Ian Burke Associates specified Ward Topdek for the 6000m2 roof of Tesco located on Tulloch Street, Dingwall.

As part of an ongoing agreement between Ward and Tesco, Topdek has been specified as the design standard for the supermarket's giant new flat roofed stores including Scunthorpe, Doncaster, Batley and Warrington.

The roofing contractor Grainger Building Services completed the installation.

Ian McInnes of Grainger Building Services comments: "The speed of installation for this project was remarkable.

Topdek is a one-piece product which requires minimal labour on site and the self coring screw requires fewer tools making installation quick and easy.

This was a restricted programme and the inclement weather meant we were working to extremely tight deadlines." The main contractor for Tesco Dingwall was Barr Construction.
