Ward Topdek has been installed by Central Cladding on a prestigious luxury apartment project in Cheltenham.

The multi-million pound development of one and two bed apartments incorporates an unusual 'C' shaped building which presented a roofing challenge solved by using Ward Topdek.

The curved building, which steps from two storeys to four, required tapered roof panels to accommodate the curves including aesthetic considerations as it is overlooked by higher storeys.

The versatility, and speed of fitting of Topdek , the all-in-one single ply roofing system, enabled architects, John F Evans Partnership, to meet project deadlines on time and within budget.

Steve Bowles of John F Evans Partnership commented: "The curves look great but do add complications for roofing".

"Topdek from Ward allowed us to keep the curves and roof the building both efficiently and effectively".

"Topdek is ideal - it can be laid down to 1 degree roof pitch, is self-finished in a suitable colour and provides structure, insulation and waterproofing in one go, with long sheets which span the whole roof width without any cross-joints".

"Good looks were important too - the building varies in height so appearance from above was important." Ward Topdek is a factory pre-engineered composite roof panel that facilitates faster onsite assembly.

It comprises a proven high performance single-ply PVC outer membrane integrally bonded to a Firesafe rigid PIR insulation core approved to LPBC standards, and a steel trapezoidal profile inner deck to provide structural strength.

As an all - in-one single ply roofing solution, Topdek replaces the individual processes of laying steel decking, vapour control layer, insulation and outer membrane with one simple installation, which compared to traditional built up roofing systems, is up to 50% faster to install.

A new self-coring screw - unique to Topdek - speeds the installation process even further.

Conventional fixing required a core of insulation to be removed, a self-tapping screw to be fixed then the core replaced prior to the welding of the side-lap.

Now, in one simple operation, the self-coring screw replaces all of these three stages.

Accessories include upstands, gutters and safety anchor systems.

Topdek fully complies with the latest Building Regulations providing guaranteed thermal performance and exceptional air tightness over the building's lifetime.
