Ward Panels in award-winning design

A Ward Insulated Panels product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Dec 18, 2007

Ward Insulated Panels' composite wall panels played integral part in award-winning development of apartments in Altrincham, Cheshire.

Ward's distinctive range of metal wall cladding, DW1000, 900 and 600, was used to clad the walls of Budenberg Haus Projekte, designed by world-renowned architects Foster and Partners.

The development, by Urban Splash, comprises two new residential buildings, each shaped like a ships' bow, leaning out over Bridgewater Canal.

These are adjacent to the newly renovated Budenberg Gauge Factory which has given the project its name.

The stunning project recently won a RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) Award 2007.

RIBA Awards are given annually for buildings that have high architectural standards and make a substantial contribution to the local environment.

Each block is divided by an entrance courtyard with open stairs, lifts and galleries leading to the front door of each apartment.

Ward's metal wall cladding in metallic silver and black was laid horizontally on this central section.

The installation was carried out by Carlton Building Services of Bolton who used 3,000 m2 of mini rib wall panels.

All Ward composite panels incorporate a Firesafe Polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation core with zero Ozone Depletion Potential (Zero ODP).

They are also covered by the WardSure Warranty, a comprehensive warranty package covering all key performance areas of the product.
