Wastefile UK new deal with Knauf Drywall
Wastefile UK announce the commencement of a new agreement with plasterboard manufacturers Knauf Drywall.
Nationwide experts in waste management, waste disposal and on site services, Wastefile UK, are pleased to announce the commencement of a new agreement with plasterboard manufacturers Knauf Drywall.
This sees Wastefile UK take responsibility for the collection of gypsum based waste building materials from more than 250 Barratts sites across the UK, fulfilling an integral role in Knauf's recycling process.
Commenting on the agreement, Michael Benton, National Sales Manager at Wastefile UK, said: "This relationship demonstrates the changing dynamic within the waste industry, where producers are looking to their suppliers to assist them in reducing waste production, in particular waste to landfill".
"Wastefile UK's independent market position and expertise play a vital role in this evolvement by acting as the link between supplier and end user in creating and closing the waste loop, as proven by the success of this initiative".
Steve Wilson, Housing Manager at Knauf Drywall, added: "Our agreement with Wastefile UK has enabled us to operate a recycling system on behalf of Barratt Group which has greatly reduced the amount of plasterboard waste being generated, it has also ensured that a closed loop recycling system could be successfully implemented on all Barratt and Kingsoak sites".
"The detailed reports provided by Wastefile UK have proved to be a valuable tool to further reduce wastage on site, increase efficiency and lower costs".
As one of the leading manufacturers of plasterboard products for the construction industry, Knauf Drywall has an ongoing commitment to sustainability and the environment.
By utilising as many recyclable products as possible in the production process, they are able to take back waste plasterboard for re-processing, whilst the paper liners are returned to the paper industry for recycling.
The waste management chain involves on site segregation of waste plasterboard into collection bags, which are then collected and returned to Knauf for recycling.
Wastefile UK will control the supply and despatch of plasterboard collection bags, in line with Knauf's nominated requirements, with collection of the bags provided by Wastefile UK's nationwide network of nominated transport partners.
This will be fully monitored by Wastefile UK's leading edge IT reporting systems, providing full breakdown and auditing capabilities.
With in-depth knowledge of the field, Wastefile UK's team have become the first choice throughout the UK's Housebuilder market.
Their expertise has been utilised to implement successful segregation systems with all of the major developers, including Barratt Homes, with this operation being managed by Wastefile UK's highly experienced Housebuilder team.
Benton is confident that this partnership with Knauf will be extended to incorporate future work for Wastefile UK.
He said: "It is hoped that in conjunction with Knauf, additional sales will be generated by offering a similar service to non-housebuilder clients in the future".
"Our established waste reduction techniques have already proved invaluable to our wider construction client base, including the likes of Wilson Bowden Developments, Thomas Vale Construction, Mowlem PLC, Morrison Construction Services and Dean and Dyball Construction.".
