Version of Aquacell for landscaped
applications

Wavin Plastics have extended the AquaCell range by launching a 'lite' version of AquaCell, the UK's leading stormwater management system.

Wavin Plastics have extended the AquaCell range by launching a 'lite' version of AquaCell, the UK's leading stormwater management system AquaCell Lite is specifically designed for non-trafficked applications, such as parks, playing fields and domestic gardens

The product has been purposely designed for landscaped, non-trafficked applications, which is reflected in the loading capacity.

AquaCell Lite has a proven vertical loading capacity of 17.5 tonnes/m2 and a lateral loading capacity of 4.0 tonnes/m2.

As a result, the product has a restricted installation depth of up to 1.5 metres.

This compares to the existing AquaCell, which is best suited to regular and heavy trafficked applications and has a proven vertical loading capacity of 56 tonnes/m2.

Original AquaCell is capable of being used in applications of up to and more than 1.5m deep.

The new AquaCell Lite units, which are green in colour to clearly distinguish the product from its existing blue counterpart, is suitable for both soakaway and storage tanks.

Each unit measures 1.0m x 0.5m x 0.4m and weighs just seven kilograms.

The system is quick and easy to construct by clipping the units together in single layers and pegging in multiple layers, using the clips and shear connectors provided.

The product also has built-in 'hand holes' for ease of use.

As with AquaCell, the system can also be 'brick-bonded' during installation for extra stability.

Both new AquaCell Lite and original AquaCell are compatible with existing Osma pipe systems and can be connected using components from the UltraRib, OsmaDrain and TwinWall ranges.

Release Ref: WP/296/2 Michelle Fleming, Wavin Plastics' marketing manager, commented: "As a manufacturer, we take responsibility in providing information to ensure the correct product is used for the correct application".

"We are fighting against the 'one product fits all' culture by making it easy for the subcontractor - Blue for trafficked, Green for landscaped/non trafficked".

"We have taken into account the multiple factors that need to be considered to guarantee structural integrity and distilled this into a simple choice for the installer" She continued: "This new 'lite' version has been specifically designed for restricted depth, low-loaded landscaped sites". "The product provides a cost effective solution for the management of stormwater in comparison to traditional concrete soakaways and there is no requirement for handling and lifting equipment, which will considerably reduce installation times.".
