Supply Chain Performance Award from Travis Perkins

Wavin Plastics has been presented with the Supply Chain Performance Award from the UK's leading builders merchant, Travis Perkins.

Wavin Plastics has been presented with the Supply Chain Performance Award from the UK's leading builders merchant, Travis Perkins.

The award is in recognition of excellence in the supply chain, with particular reference to Wavin's 'Lightening the Load' stock management project.

The 'Lightening the Load' programme was created to increase merchant branch sales and profitability by improving product availability for customers.

Wavin has achieved this by: simplifying the stock ordering process; reducing the length of time that merchants' hold onto slow-moving stock, and improving stock location and presentation.

The award was presented to David Jones, divisional managing director for Wavin Plastics at the Travis Perkins suppliers' conference, held at Cheltenham Racecourse in October 2006.

David says: "We are proud to accept this award.

The 'Lightening the Load' programme has meant greater customer satisfaction and increased sales for both Travis Perkins and Wavin Plastics.

"This programme could only have been successful with the full support and cooperation of Travis Perkins.

This support was willingly given to us making the project a huge success - thank you".

Initial trials in 36 Travis Perkins branches have proven successful enough for the project to be extended to a further 100+ branches in 2007.
