An extra measure of quality galvanized steel from Wedge Group Galvanizing has been blended into the footballing mix at Norwich City Football Club, where TV cookery celebrity Delia Smith is a high-profile board director.

A new section of grandstand, with accommodation for more than 1000 extra spectators, has been added to the club's Carrow Road ground since promotion to the elite Premiership was achieved last season.

The previous year, during which Wedge Group company Worksop Galvanizing of Nottinghamshire supplied around 400 tonnes of galvanized structural steelwork for a completely new grandstand - including some sections 17 metres long - Norwich became Division 1 champions.

This season Worksop Galvanizing were contracted to galvanize a further 120 tonnes by fabricators, James Killelea and Co , of Lancashire, for the latest corner section of the stadium.

Paul Robinson of Worksop Galvanizing, which employs 65 people and has the capacity to galvanize 800-1000 tonnes per week, said the company, based at Claylands Avenue, Worksop, was proud to have been contracted to work for its customer James Killelea and Co at such a high profile venue: "This is the latest in a long list of successful projects we have been contracted to do for new facilities at professional football clubs, including West Bromwich Albion, Derby County, Aston Villa, Wrexham and others." Setting the standard for the galvanizing industry, Worksop Galvanizing's fully enclosed galvanizing bath, which meets all environmental regulations, measures 21m x 1.5m x 2.78m and has a holding capacity of 600 tonnes of molten zinc.
