Wedge Group company East Anglian Galvanizing has helped put the finishing touch to a new processing centre in Walsall.

Wedge Group company East Anglian Galvanizing has helped put the finishing touch to a new processing centre in Walsall - a 23-metre architectural steel mast, fully galvanized and weighing some 1.5 tonnes.

The contract was successfully completed on behalf of East Anglian's customer, Viking Engineering , of Nottingham, with the mast being galvanized in sections, which were specially designed for galvanizing before being fabricated and erected on-site.

East Anglian Galvanizing's Commercial Manager, Selwyn Parrish, said the ornate mast required careful and expert handling during the galvanizing process to ensure that it remained undamaged and that the complicated shapes involved were fully protected by the galvanization.

East Anglian Galvanizing , based at Warely Road, Peterborough, is one of the UK's leading companies with advanced facilities capable of dealing with large volumes of steel, for example for the construction industry, including steel staircases and railings.

The company has an 8m x 1.2m x 2.4m hot-dip galvanizing bath, plus a spin galvanizing facility (3.66m x 0.62m x 1.37m) for components up to 500mm in length.

Other specialist services include blast cleaning, passivation and painting.

All facilities meet the very latest European and UK environment protection regulations.
