The new General Manager and Director-designate of the Wedge Group's company in Scotland - Scottish Galvanizers of Maclellan Street, Glasgow - is Robin Fry.

Robin has returned to the Wedge Group to take up the appointment, after spending more than 10 years working in the printing industry.

He previously joined the Wedge Group from university and became Works Manager at Pillar-Wedge at Heywood, Lancashire.

After a spell in the construction industry he was appointed General Manager of the Wedge Group's plant at Newport, South Wales.

During that time he was key member of the Technical Committee of the Galvanizing Association.

Now Robin is looking forward keenly to his new challenge: "We already have a very strong team at Scottish Galvanizers but the company is responsible for providing a quality galvanizing service for the whole of Scotland so there are some important reasons for having an experienced General Manager - especially as we don't have such close geographical contact with other parts of the Group".

He said there had been many significant changes within the industry since he had last worked for the Wedge Group, especially in the areas of business systems and computer technology.

"Also, the legislation covering the galvanizing industry in relation to environment protection is different in Scotland from other parts of the UK," he said.
