A magnificent steel water wheel, which has been galvanized by Newport Galvanizers , has helped usher in a new era for an historic corn mill in Powys The wheel, measuring around 12ft in diameter, was commissioned to generate electricity for the mill building and adjoining accommodation which is used by holidaymakers in the village of Llanhamlach, beside the River Usk, near Brecon

The owners decided to replace the existing wheel which was around 100 years old and had wooden paddles, with a completely new steel wheel constructed and galvanized in sections.
The wheel is turned by continuously-flowing river water underneath the mill.
Doreen Dingwall, who lives at the mill, said that historic documents indicate there has been a mill on the site since around 1200 and perhaps even to Roman times.
She explained that the project to refurbish the mill and use a water wheel to generate power had received valuable support through a grant from the Brecon Beacons National Park.
Mike Small of Newport Galvanizers said: "This is the first time we have been asked to galvanize anything like this, but we are delighted to be involved in a such an historic project, and especially one which will be used to generate 'Green' energy in this way.".
