BM TRADA awards Weyerhaeuser European CE2+ certification for Forrestar plywood.

International forest products company, Weyerhaeuser, has achieved CE2+ certification for its Forrestar plywood range.

The certification is particularly important for the structural end user market, as all Forrestar panels will now be marked appropriately to EN 636-3 S (CE2+), denoting fitness for exterior structural use.

Awarded by BM TRADA Certification, CE2+ certification demonstrates that the Forrestar plywood range complies with European Union (EU) legal requirements, as specified in the Construction Products Directive (CPD) under Attestation of Conformity level 2+.

Manufactured at Weyerhaeuser's state-of-the-art plywood mill in Uruguay, Forrestar plywood is available in both eucalyptus and pine sustainable alternatives to tropical or endangered wood species.

Commenting on Weyerhaeuser's achievement, Bob Foster of BM TRADA, said: Weyerhaeuser has brought its new operation in Uruguay up to a very high standard in a short space of time.

This is testament to the company's expertise in plywood manufacturing, and commitment to creating products that are of the highest international standards from genuinely sustainable timber sources".

Completed at the end of 2006, the Uruguay plant is the first phase in a major expansion programme in South America.

Investment in the CE2+ certification cements Weyerhaeuser's commitment to the European market, for which Forrestar plywood is a key product.

European commercial director for Weyerhaeuser, John Guerin, said: "Weyerhaeuser is committed to meeting national and international standards for our plantations and products.

CE2+ certification will help make our distribution channel more efficient and provide clients with the confidence that we are a market leader when it comes to supplying wood products in Europe".

Weyerhaeuser sells to Europe through Weyerhaeuser Products Limited, headquartered in Belgium.
