Groundhogs go nationwide

A Wernick Hire product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Nov 7, 2007

Wernick Hire, the national accommodation hire specialists, begins GBP1m initiative to launch the Groundhog mobile welfare unit into their fleet throughout Britain.

The very compact six person GP360 model is supplied as a welfare unit equipped with an integral 6kVA diesel generator, toilet compartment, wash station, drying room, hot and cold water and canteen area with cooking facilities and seating.

All this within an interior dimension of just 11' x 7'! Due to its compact size and lightness (only 1700 kg for the welfare model), the Groundhog does not run-up costly transport charges as it can be towed to site behind a staff vehicle and is easily and safely installed by one person.

Equipped with a retractable axle and a unique built-in hydraulic system for safely raising and lowering the cabin to the ground, the fully HSE compliant Groundhog can be installed and operational within three minutes of arrival on site.

The Groundhog is of theft and vandal resistant all steel construction with a double point locking mechanism securing its tow coupling and hydraulic system controls.

When in use in a very high security risk area the Groundhog can, as an additional precaution, be quickly hitched-up and towed to a secure parking spot overnight.
