Air-source keeps pupils warm in Wernick classroom

A Wernick Buildings product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Nov 19, 2008

Under floor heating system powered by an air source heat pump from Dimplex was installed in a Rapidplan3000 modular classroom from Wernick Buildings.

Gergask Primary School in the Scottish Highlands is one of many schools to have had its accommodation extended with a Rapidplan3000 modular classroom courtesy of Wernick Buildings.

But what's so special about this particular project is that the Highland Council responsible for the school asked Wernick to make the design as energy efficient as possible.

First Wernick made sure that the building was well insulated and completely air-tight to eliminate heat loss, as they do for all their buildings.

Then working with Dimplex a decision was made that an under floor heating system should be powered by an air source heat pump.

Between 300-400% efficient, this remarkable technology can even source heat from the air in the middle of a Scottish winter.

This is just one of the environmentally friendly heating and lighting solutions Wernick are able to provide.

With solar panels, sun pipes, ground source pump systems etc, Wernick strive towards better energy efficiencies to give significant savings in running costs.
