Thinsulex brings U comfort

A Web Dynamics product story

Web Dynamics is advising installers to get to grips with their understanding of U and R values as the need for better insulated homes becomes increasingly important.

With Home Information Packs (HIPs) a reality from 1st June, Web Dynamics is advising installers to get to grips with their understanding of U and R values as the need for better insulated homes becomes increasingly important.

Web Dynamics, manufacturers of Thinsulex - the UK's only multi-foil to be BBA certified and part L compliant - is calling upon builders and installers to embrace the use of multi-foils as a fast and convenient airtight insulation solution for renovation and new build programmes.

Nick Searle, managing director of Web Dynamics, said: "Since April last year and the introduction of the new Building Regulations in England and Wales, there has been a need to improve the thermal performance of roofs.

The introduction of Energy Performance Certificates will reinforce this message and see home owners getting a greater understanding of the issues as well.

"We understand that the calculations for assessing the energy efficiency of insulation can be quite confusing but we want to assure customers that Thinsulex ticks all the relevant boxes and when used correctly with either PUR or glass wool will achieve the 0.2U value everyone is looking for".

Approved by the LABC and accepted by the NHBC, Thinsulex is a thin, flexible insulation which reflects infra-red radiation.

It stops air leakage by providing an air-tight vapour barrier and restricting air movement in its multi-foil layers.

"Our product reduces the carbon emissions of a building, and importantly for installers, ends the need for Building Control re-inspections*.

We want customers to feel confident when using Thinsulex and each roll contains detailed installation instructions.

Alternatively, customers can call our thermal hotline with technical queries they may have," continued Nick.

Home Information Packs are The Government's latest tool for managing carbon emissions and simplifying the house buying process.

HIPs will include Home Condition Reports and an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC).

The EPC is similar to those provided with domestic appliances and they record the energy efficiency of a property.

The certificate will provide a rating of the property from A to G, where A is very efficient and G is very inefficient.

EPCs become mandatory from next June (2008).

* In regard to air tightness as long as the product is installed properly.
