Thinsulex RafterFit replaces PUR between rafters
Web Dynamics set to transform life of installers with fast to install, narrow width multi-foil which fits in between 400mm rafters instead of PUR.
Developed following extensive research, Thinsulex RafterFit is ideal for loft conversions and refurbishments where the original roof remains and the installer is working with 100mm rafters and a 50mm air gap.
BBA approved and Part L compliant, Thinsulex RafterFit can deliver significant time benefits for the installer.
Independent expert* and early user trials have confirmed that it is up to three times faster to install between 400mm rafters than cutting and fitting PUR which ultimately translates into labour savings.
Ingenious location wings line up to the edge of the rafter for stapling and the system only requires the relevant thickness of PUR rigid board beneath rafters to achieve the necessary U-value.
How it works.
The product combines a core air layer with mirrored surfaces that reflect infra-red heat.
Web Dynamics' ultra-sonic technology joins materials without stitching holes that can cause air leakage - a major contributor to heat loss - or moisture contamination.
A guaranteed 50mm air gap between the insulation and the 1F felt then ensures a roof is well ventilated.
Each roll contains simple installation instructions and the lightweight product is ideal for restrictive loft spaces.
There is also less waste, less mess and no dust and as the product is hypoallergenic there is no need to wear a face mask.
Dr John Payne, who heads up the Thinsulex technical team, says: "For too long multi-foils have wasted the space inside the rafter and by using this area we are able to minimize the loss of internal room space.
We believe that this is the first time the installer and the building control officer can both be confident that a genuine air gap of 50mm can be set".
Nick Searle, managing director of Web Dynamics said: "We have always listened to our customers and we are very happy to have developed an insulation solution which clearly hits the mark with loft converters - taking the hassle and time out of fitting insulation between rafters.
"We know Thinsulex is an established and successful product which delivers on U-values, but it is only by asking our customers that we have truly gained a better understanding of how our product is used and received in the market place.
And with an average home losing 70 percent of its heat through radiation and air leakage, RafterFit plays a major part in saving energy and reducing fuel bill costs".
Already certified by the BBA, Thinsulex RafterFit will be available through merchants from 1st December 2007 and is the latest addition to the Thinsulex range of products.
It has all the reflective and thermal qualities of Thinsulex multi-foil insulation, cutting CO emissions and increasing air tightness and is guaranteed to provide a U-value of 0.2** for 25 years (when installed to BBA Certificate No 06/4379).
