The Wicona unitised facade system from Hydro Building Systems can now reduce time on site by up to 70 per cent.

This highly innovative approach to the building envelope applies the principles of off-site construction to the facade The Wicona unitised system is fully glazed and sealed in a controlled factory environment

The complete units are then moved to site for fast installation on to pre-prepared fixings.

By completing the unitised panels off site, a weather tight envelope is created for earlier fitting out, the construction programme is shorter and more predictable, there are cost savings on site preliminaries, and quality and performance are enhanced.

Panels up to 4m by 4m can be fixed to steel or concrete frames and installed using a crane or monorail system, reducing the need for scaffolding and improving site safety.

This is also a highly efficient solution where site access is restricted.

Storage of cladding materials and glass handling is eliminated, reducing material damage and loss, and offering a major advantage for constrained city centre sites.

Wicona Projects is the first facade specialist to oversee the full package for the unitised curtain wall and will lead a team of specialists for every aspect of a facade project, from design concepts and specification, to fabrication, installation, testing and handover.

This unique approach gives specifiers, building contractors and construction clients the benefit of a seamless service and complete peace of mind.

The Wicona system can be adapted to specific project requirements and is one of the most widely used and technically advanced unitised facades in Europe.

Any combination of profiles, external feature caps and glazing can be specified and the unitised system can incorporate stone cladding; metal, composite or polycarbonate panels; windows, doors and fixed light glazing; brise soleil sunshading and photovoltaic panels.

It is fully tested to the most stringent European standards for air permeability, water tightness and wind resistance.
