Reusing the heat from drainwater

A The Winston Works product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Nov 28, 2007

The world's first drainpipe heat exchanger that captures heat in from all drainwater (greywater, wastewater) in buildings has been developed and tested.

Hot water represents some 20-30% of a family's energy bill.

That 'used heat' could save billions of energy-dollars annually while reducing greenhouse gases and recovering hard earned cash from the sewer.

Utilities will save by the reduction in peal power demand.

Homes, hospitals, hotels, schools and most other buildings are all candidates for Drainergy.

There are three Drainergy models, two with heat storage for maximum performance, and one without for shower and sink use. They work in any size or type of building.

Some of the features of the WaterWatts heat exchanger include:.

available built-in, insulated one-way heat recovery and storage that allows cold drainwater to flow through without loss of stored heat.

horizontal and vertical designs to fit any drain system.

fully developed, performance-tested, absolutely safe, they use no power, have no moving parts, pass any size of solids, work with all temperature drainwater, are non-blocking, need no maintenance and work automatically.
