Wincanton plc announced its annual financial results, recording GBP35.6m profit, a 10.2 per cent increase.

Leading European supply chain provider Wincanton plc today announced its annual financial results, recording a GBP35.6m profit, a 10.2 per cent increase and a turnover of over GBP1.9billion.

Operational highlights include: High levels of new business wins and contract start ups Continuing opportunity in the UK, both through organic growth and acquisitions Building momentum in Mainland Europe, through investment in people, marketing and systems Its retail sector is showing strong performance in both dedicated and shared user sites, investing in new services including inland container ports and seeing growth in general merchandise and home delivery.

In manufacturing, Wincanton is growing its business with existing customers, expanding the portfolio of services and investing in collaboration and optimisation.

The industrial sector reports limited growth in the traditional markets, but is expanding in construction and preparing for the forthcoming WEEE Directive in waste recycling.

Wincanton has won new business in records management attracting blue-chip City customers, and announced an inbound joint venture earlier in the year.

In addition there are expansion plans for consultancy and further sectors and targets are under review.
