Wincanton construction consolidation centres
Wincanton team up with construction logistics experts Clipfine to offer construction companies national consolidation centres.
To help significantly reduce the 70% of delays on construction sites caused by non-availability of essential materials and reduce vehicle movements, leading supply chain provider, Wincanton, has teamed up with construction logistics experts, Clipfine, to offer construction companies national consolidation centres.
The partnership between Wincanton and Clipfine will allow consolidation centres to be set up near the construction site for all materials to be housed and managed in a central location.
The goods will be stored in a secure site and then can either be collected at a convenient time or delivered in a just-in-time fashion.
The offering will mean that traffic and the number of people required to facilitate delivery on-site will be significantly reduced by the consolidation of the number of vehicles arriving to the development.
As a result, it will help to reduce costs, minimise the reliance on the delivery of goods from an increasingly wide-range of suppliers and minimise on-site waste by ensuring the delivery vehicle's load is optimised.
The service will also offer construction companies:.
* Online order tracking to ensure safe delivery of goods.
* Secure housing and transportation of goods.
* Management information including fully visible and transparent KPIs.
* Waste management to remove surplus packaging from the Centre.
* A reduction in fuel costs and carbon emissions through route planning and road mile reduction.
Nick Graham, Business Unit Director, Wincanton, commented: "Our offering is totally unique in the fact that it is available to companies nationwide".
