Greenstar higher performance new boilers

A Worcester Bosch Group product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jun 30, 2005

New Greenstar Si boilers - 25Si and the 30Si - bring higher performance SEDBUK A rated boilers to the installer and homeowner.

When Worcester Bosch began developing the new replacements it recognised a need to raise the output as well as raise the SEDBUK rating from D to A to meet Part L.

The boilers are compact, 710mm x 400mm x 330mm and lightweight, around 27kg making them one man lift - an added installer benefit.

The most striking change to the appearance is the incorporation if the new 'skin' design and blue light feature - perceived as a comfort factor by the consumer.

The new design has been introduced to give the brand an instantly recognisable look for both installers and consumers and is intended to allow homeowners to incorporate the modern look into their home without the need for integrating the boiler.

The new boilers provide extra control for hot water plus extra timer options:.

* 25Si - perfect for a small/medium sized, 1 bath property offering a flow rate of 10.2 l/m and an output of 7.2-24kW.

* 30Si - suitable for a medium sized, 1 bath property offering a flow rate of 12.3 l/m and an output of 7.2-24kW.

To ensure maximum efficiency Worcester Bosch has developed the exclusive WB3 heatcell.

The flue gases pass through the heat exchanger, which has an extra large surface area allowing the gases to cool to around 55 degrees centigrade, and are then applied to the system rather than escaping through the flue.

This means the consumer can run the boiler up to 20% cheaper than an older boiler.

Previously the Si series had four optional controls but the new range is compatible with six optional Worcester Bosch plug-in controls - MT10; MT10RF; DT20RF; DT20; DT10RF digistat and DT10RF optimiser - offering yet more choice to the homeowner.

Timer Model - Benefits:.

* MT10 - mechanical timer: A simple, easy-to-operate timer with switching points every 15 minutes over a 24 hour period.

* MT10RF - mechanical RF thermostat: A simple, easy-to-operate timer 24 hour mechanical timer with a radio frequency room thermostat.

It features comfort and set back temperature selectors.

* DT20RF - digital RF thermostat with twin channel programmer.

A wall-mounted RF room thermostat with digital display, combined with a twin channel digital timer in the boiler fascia.

It benefits from automatic time and date set-up, automatic summer/winter time changeover and a backlight for use in low light conditions.

* DT20 - twin channel digital programmer: A versatile, easy-to-learn7 day, digital programmer offering up to 3 on/off settings per day.

It includes automatic set-up, automatic summer/winter time changeover and a green backlight for low light conditions.

* DT10RF digistat: A wall-mounted 24 hour programmable RF digital thermostat combined with a fascia mounted single channel programmer to time the hot water cylinder or combi preheat functions.

The programmer includes a built-in receiver for the room thermostat and all of the functionality of the DT20.

* DT10RF optimiser: A 7 day digital programmable RF thermostat with a programmer/receiver in the fascia.

The optimum start feature, where the thermostat delays the firing of the boiler until necessary, is an energy-saving option.

Other benefits include:.

* adjustable hot water control - providing user comfort and economy.

* wall mounting jig - allowing pre-fabrication of the system.

* modulation control, anti-cycle control and electronic ignition - saving energy.

* radio frequency controlled room thermostat - helps meet the wiring needs of Part P and Part L.

* built-in frost protection - saving money.

* multi directional fluing available in two sizes 100mm and 125mm - allowing siting flexibility; built in bypass; pump seizure protection and consumer friendly operational status indicator.

The Si range is available in natural gas or LPG.
