Worcester set to release air source
technology

Worcester is set to launch another renewable technology for home heating next spring, with two air source heat pump (ASHP) options air to air and air to water systems.

In April 2008, the new products will be added to Worcester's renewable portfolio, which already includes Greenskies solar water heating and Greenstore ground source heat pumps These products will create a new alternative for environmentally conscious homeowners looking for a new heating system with minimal CO2 emissions

Air source heat pumps work by converting the energy of the air outside into heat, creating a comfortable temperature inside the house as well as supplying energy for the hot water system.

As with all heat pumps, air source models are most efficient when supplying low temperature systems such as underfloor heating.

The air source heat pump produces a maximum 65degc outgoing flow temperature and will be able to work down to lows of -20degc outdoor temperature.

The only space requirement is an outside wall making them ideal for apartments and homes with limited outside space.

With no need for groundworks, installation costs are kept to a minimum.

Martyn Bridges, director of technical support and marketing said: "Air source heat pump technology has become increasing popular in the Swedish market and it was felt these products will suit UK requirements".

"We have been working hard to develop and test these products over recent months and are now putting the final pieces together ready to launch next year".

"We anticipate that ASHPs could become a very popular alternative to traditional heating systems in the next few years".

Worcester's air to air heat pump will also include a cluster ion-generator, which operates as an active air purifier.

This works with positive and negative ions to break down air pollutions in the home.

As well as heating a home and providing heat for hot water the air source heat pumps are also able to cool a property creating a further added benefit for summer months. Request a free brochure from Worcester Bosch Group ...
