Worcester support for South Lakes Housing

A Worcester Bosch Group product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Nov 28, 2008

Worcester, Bosch Group has pledged to plant 300 trees on behalf of South Lakes Housing, in recognition of the number of condensing boilers they have installed as part of its Decent Homes Programme.

South Lakes Housing is the Arms Length Management Organisation (ALMO) set up by South Lakeland District Council, boasting over 3,000 properties and spanning a 600 square mile radius.

To date, South Lakes Housing has installed approximately 1,000 Worcester Greenstar 24i condensing boilers - either as full heating upgrades or boiler replacements - inline with the Decent Homes Programme for social housing.

Mike Wright, Worcester's technical specification manager for the North, comments: "As part of our continued pledge to be an environmentally responsible manufacturer, Worcester has built up a strong partnership with The Woodland Trust and we are committed to planting trees to help protect the environment.

"Worcester has worked with the ALMO since 2005 and with environmental issues being such a hot topic these days we wanted to recognise the 900 Worcester Greenstar 24i condensing boilers that Trevor Woodward, contracts partnership manager for South Lakes Housing, and Sean Canny, from South Lakes Housing's contractor Bramall Construction, have specified and installed.

We are pleased to be planting these trees in their honour." Commenting on the work South Lakes Housing has been doing, Sean Canny said: "Bramall Construction consistently uses Worcester's boilers as we know that we are getting a good deal in terms of price, service and reliability.

We started work on the Decent Homes Programme in November 2005 and since then we've had minimal problems, despite the scale of installation.

The support we value most from Worcester is their fast reaction time and positive response, which just fills us with confidence in the brand." Trevor Woodward adds: "When we started work on the Decent Homes Programme with our partners Bramall Construction we conducted a full appraisal to identify the one boiler that would provide the best quality, cost and efficiency for the job - and the winner was Worcester.

In my view, Worcester has always manufactured one of the best boilers on the market.

It's fantastic to see them leading with way with high-efficiency products and taking it a step further with initiatives like with The Woodland Trust.".
