Technical Talk seminar highlights modular benefits

A Wolseley product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Nov 12, 2008

Bob Hughes of Pipe Center Modular Engineering, part of the Wolseley group, shares experiences in modularisation and off-site pre-fabrication, as key speaker at Mtech Group's 'Mighty MandE' seminar.

The general manager of Wolseley group Pipe Center's new modular engineering service will give insight into a growing industry trend when he takes to the stage at a prestigious event.

Mtech, the leading specialist consultancy for off-site construction, is hosting the event in collaboration with Advantage Offsite on 12 November 2008 at Birmingham's Think Tank.

This is the final event of the 2008 'Technical Talk' seminar programme.

Bob Hughes said: "Demand for off-site assembled modules for building services projects has been growing rapidly, in line with increasingly tight construction timescales and stringent health and safety requirements on-site".

"Modularisation is also cost effective, offering an average 10 per cent saving on installation, along with minimising waste and overcoming problems of on-site labour shortages".

""I look forward to taking part in this event, which will help raise awareness of the key industry issues and drivers affecting modularisation"".

"Martin Goss, director of Mtech, said: "Currently there are limited suppliers of modular wiring and pre-assembled mechanical services, but this is a dynamic and exciting area with many opportunities".

""I am delighted that Bob Hughes is able to contribute to this event and provide a valuable insight into this growing trend to industry representatives from across the supply chain".

Pipe Center Modular Engineering operates from its bespoke 30,000 sq ft factory in Worcester and offers customers both the manufacture and distribution of pre-fabricated modules direct to site.

All product requirements can also be fulfilled due to Wolseley's wide range of businesses and integrated supply chain.

For example, products used in modules may include insulation products from Encon, pipework, fittings, valves and support systems from Pipe Center, air conditioning equipment from Climate Center and electrical containment etc from Electric Center.
