WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme) has announced an open tender, inviting contractors to submit applications to become part of its Construction Support Framework.
Consultants will be required to advise WRAP directly and to assist construction businesses in improving their materials resource efficiency using outputs available from WRAP's Construction Programme.
The aim is to build confidence in, and provide practical help for, the setting of requirements for waste minimisation and management, materials recycling and/or recycled content in construction projects.
The framework will be in addition to WRAP's existing construction procurement and technical framework and offers potential, and existing contractors, the scope to present a broader range of services in line with four key areas:.
* general support to WRAP and its construction audiences.
development of a robust evidence base from which clients can easily and confidently base decisions on materials resource efficiency (including recovery and recycling).
* development of achievable and practical project-based construction requirements and targets.
* advocacy and training to WRAP's construction audiences.
Mervyn Jones, Programme Manager for WRAP's Construction team, explains: "We are not expecting contractors to necessarily deliver on all these services - they should focus on areas or combinations of services that offer strong expertise to WRAP and our audiences".
The tender will enable more effective use of the support tools already provided by WRAP, and ultimately help the construction industry to increase its resource efficiency.
The full tender invitation is available to download from the website or by emailing lucy.keal@wrap.org.uk.
The deadline for receipt of tender submissions is 12.30 pm, 22nd December 2006.
The Framework will commence by 1st March 2007 and continue through to 31st March 2010.
