The 'Wright' Approach To Handling Raw Materials

A Wright Brothers Industrial Services product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jun 10, 2003

Wright Brothers complete a project to install a 28tonnes/hour raw material system of conveyors that are used to deliver china clay to kilns located at a plant in Southwest England.

The specification consisted of two 600mm wide, inclined troughed belt conveyors with 27 and 18m drum centres respectively.

Belt speed is 0.76m/sec and a specially constructed transfer tower is sited between the two conveyors with an open mesh platform at transfer height and caged access ladder to ground level.

Raw material is discharged from the second conveyor via a pneumatically operated swivel chute to either an existing rotary dryer conveyor or another new conveyor, this time a 600mm wide horizontal troughed belt conveyor with 36m drum centres.

The existing tripping conveyors (one rotary and one Buell dryer) also had to be extended as part of the project, by 7.5 and 8.5m respectively.

The lead-time for this project was just 20 weeks from design approval to being fully operational.

Wright Brothers Industrial Services has years of experience in providing materials handling solutions for often awkward and demanding applications.

In fact, the Southwest England contract materialised as the client was so pleased with a previous project undertaken by Wright Brothers for an 110m tripping conveyor.

The contract entailed the design, build and installation of the conveyor, as well as removal of the old system, all within a short shutdown period.

Wright Brothers' project management team can handle full Turnkey projects with conveyors designed and manufactured to customer specifications at the company's facility in Worksop.

Recognising that some operating environments can be extremely demanding, Wright Brothers' designs are robust, simple and above all, designed with ease of maintenance in mind.
