Click4construction.com discusses training
In light of the recent review of CPD within the construction Industry by the CIC, Click4construction.com discusses the importance of training within the construction industry.
October 2006 saw the Construction Industry Council publish their guidelines for the role of Continued Professional Development within the construction sector.
These guidelines are the latest in what appears to be a positive move being made by the construction industry, to better promote training in a bid to raise the industry's profile as an employer.
Over the last 3 years, there has been a very pronounced effort made to raise awareness of the role of training within construction.
This can be seen in, to name a few; the formation of CITB-ConstructionSkills; their spin off site, B-constructive - aimed at promoting construction as a study and career option; as well as numerous successful initiatives implemented by professional institutions to increase intake and raise the profile of their own sectors.
"There's been a very positive change in thinking over the last few years".
"As the skills shortage has become more apparent within the professional construction industry, it's been increasingly recognised that more needs to be done to attract new entrants and retain them" comments Andy Arnell, Managing Director of Click4construction.com.
These efforts may have been made just in time as ConstructionSkills, the sector skills council for construction, announced this summer that the industry will need 348,000 new construction workers before the year 2012 to meet UK project demands.
Over half of these workers will be required to fill gaps in the construction professional and management sector.
Sheila Hoile, Skills Strategy Director of CITB-ConstructionSkills, acknowledged in a press release this summer, that progress was being made and that thanks to these many initiatives, recruitment and interest in the industry was on the rise.
However, she then called on the industry as a whole to continue to "help us build for the future by making investments in training_and work with us to qualify the largest workforce in the UK".
Andy continues: "What we need to focus on now is the communication of this message throughout the industry".
"We must also ensure that the right channels are in place to guide construction professionals into and around the organisations and areas that they are needed within once they are trained".
Click4construction.com recognised a niche gap in the market for a jobs board that would provide a platform for end employers of construction professionals to advertise their current vacancies.
In doing this they have created the perfect stage from which to raise the profile of important issues within the construction industry, such as the benefits of training and development.
The site's main aim is to save construction companies money on their recruitment costs, allowing them to better allocate money into the training and development of their staff.
If you currently have any vacancies or current construction issues you'd like to promote through click4construction.com then please feel free to call our account management team on the number below or visit: www.click4construction.com.
