Plastic innovation means there's mortar life for builders The innovation of a South Yorkshire company has proved there is mortar life for construction workers across the UK

XJF Plastics, based in Worksop, is behind the revolutionary design of a range of mortar tubs that are making builders' work easier and saving firms money.

The crane and forklitfable 250-litre mortar tubs are more robust than existing products due to the integrated tub design and more easily manageable because of the high-level fork access, which allows drivers a better view of the load.

Paul Fairhurst, XJF's Managing Director, is the brain behind the new design, technically known as a tine guide, used to eradicate the need for a steel framework and make it easier to manoeuvre.

He said: "There have been problems with mortar tubs for years in the sense that although they serve a basic purpose they just aren't particularly practical.

We've seen a simple way round the flaws by removing the element of risk from the design.

There's no steel framework so there's no rusting and as it is one piece of reinforced, moulded plastic it is extremely robust and will last longer.

It is smooth polyethylene too so there is no build up of mortar.

It also makes it easier and safer for forklift operators to manoeuvre with much better visibility and has no feet so is much more stable.

It is much more practical for construction workers".

The mortar tubs can be crane lifted using either chains or slings.
